Do you love art exhibits? If so, the High Museum of Art has a special treat for you. From now until April 29, 2012, visitors can view Picasso to Warhol, a brand new collection borrowed from The Museum of Modern Art in New York. For the first time ever in the Southeast, you can view the works of 14 iconic artists in one place.
Picasso to Warhol will present nearly 100 works of 20th century art that explore each artists’ role in shaping modern art. Highlights of the exhibition include: Pablo Picasso’s Girl Before a Mirror, 1932; Jasper Johns’s Map, 1961; Andy Warhol’s Self-Portrait, 1966; Constantin Brancusi’s Bird in Space, 1928; and Jackson Pollock’s, Number 1A, 1948.
The work of Henri Matisse, Piet Mondrian, Fernand Léger, Giorgio De Chirico, Joan Miró, Romare Bearden, Alexander Calder and others is also featured in the exhibit.
While you’re at the High Museum, be sure and check out other exhibitions from Kiki Smith, Howard Finster and Grainger McKoy (just to name a few.) Every time you visit the museum, a new adventure awaits!
