Looking to spice up your Thursday lunch hour? Join Midtown Alliance and the Atlanta Street Food Coalition for Street Food Thursdays.

Street Food Thursdays, which is held at 12th and Peachtree Street, is a weekly lunchtime collection of Atlanta’s best food trucks. The event lasts every Thursday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. or until all of the food is sold out. Participating food trucks vary by week but may include: Happy Belly, Sandwich Buddha, Ultra Cakery, Raw in the Garden, Dottie’s Tasty Wraps, Ibiza Bites, The Fry Guy, King of Pops, The Marlay House, Souper Jenny, The Pickle and more.

Street Food Thursdays is a delicious option for anyone who works or lives in Midtown. Residents of 1010 Midtown can participate by literally just walking out their front door.

Enjoy the Sounds of Summer with Concerts in the Garden

Spend your summer evenings listening to your favorite musicians amidst beautiful flowers with the Atlanta Botanical Garden’s Concerts in the Garden series. This series of eight concerts on the lawn will last from June to September with a wide array of musical guests.

This year’s lineup includes:

June 22: Vince Gill with Sarah Jarosz
July 20: Neko Case with Kelly Hogan
August 10: Merle Haggard with Chris Janson
August 11: Keb Mo/Aaron Neville

All of the shows are $47.50 for members and $49.50 for non-members. The musical melodies will start at 8 p.m., but guests can pre-order complete dinners from MetroFresh in the Garden to enjoy before the show.

Music Midtown Brings Big Weekend of Music

Have you bought your ticket for Music Midtown yet? If not, you better hurry on over to your nearest Ticketmaster location to pick them up. This year’s festival is sure to be a hit with the Foo Fighters and Pearl Jam headlining the event.

Music Midtown 2012 will be held Friday, September 21 and Saturday September 22 in The Meadow at Piedmont Park. Musical guests include Joan Jett, The Avett Brothers, Ludacris, Girl Talk and more. Those interested in attending can pick up their “early bird” ticket for one day at $55 or two days at $100. VIP and Super VIP ticket packages are also available for those who want to get a behind the scenes experience of this great event.

Atlanta Dog Jog Sure To Be a Pawsitively Good Time

Get your running shoes ready! The annual Atlanta Dog Jog benefiting Canine Assistants and the Georgia Veterinary Medical Association Foundation is quickly approaching. This pet friendly jog will be held Saturday, May 12 at Piedmont Park beginning at 9 a.m.

The dog jog, which will be emceed by Victoria Stilwell of Animal Planet’s It’s Me or the Dog, will feature one and two mile run/walks. Owners and pooches of all athletic levels are encouraged to participate. Even if your four legged friend isn’t up to the task, the event allows strollers and wagons.

Proceeds from the event benefit Canine Assistants, which is an Alpharetta based non-profit that breeds, raises and trains dogs for children and adults with seizure disorders and physical disabilities. Proceeds also go to the Georgia Veterinary Medical Association Foundation, which supports benevolent activities in the areas of human-animal bond, animal health and welfare, community service, public health, the preservation of wildlife and veterinary student education.

The cost per runner and dog pair is $25 in advance. Each additional dog costs $15. Registration can be completed online.

Flowers are Blooming at the 76th Annual Dogwood Festival

The Atlanta Dogwood Festival has been a spring Atlanta staple for over 75 years, and the 76th festival is just around the corner!

The festival will last three days from Friday, April 20 to Sunday, April 22 in Piedmont Park. The event features some of the best of Atlanta including the Atlanta High School Art Exhibition, International Village and Stage, Eco Village, Friends of Dogwood Pavilion upscale hospitality experience, Kid’s Village, Disc Dog exhibition, La Fête international wine tasting and more.

The festival will run from 12 to 10 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, which gives attendees plenty of time to explore everything the festival has to offer! The festival itself is a free event, but the Friends of Dogwood Pavilion and La Fête areas both require tickets that cost around $30 each.

Whole World Improv Theatre Provides Comic Relief

Looking for a good laugh? The award-winning Whole World Improv Theatre located in the heart of downtown Atlanta provides entertaining shows and educational classes, and is also a great location for corporate workshops or parties. Started in late 1993, it is a non-profit theatre company formed by a core of actors who were determined to make it the hottest improv company in town and to provide a few laughs along the way.

The theatre hosts Thursday, Friday and Saturday night improv shows performed by their apprentice or mainstage casts. In addition, there is a Kids Show, which is performed on the first Saturday of the month at 1 p.m.

This is the event’s second year, and it will continue through the end of April. On special display this spring are the Garden Gates. This exhibit, created by Andrew T. Crawford, is spread amongst the blooming flowers, and it contains numerous iron gates that contain representational forms and abstract shapes.

Be sure not to miss the Blooms & Bubbly event on Thursday, April 5 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Participants can toast spring during a casually elegant evening at Atlanta Blooms. Piedmont Park’s Love You Healthy Fitness Series promises that you’ll lose weight, increase energy levels and find balance. The series is offering two amazing workouts, LYH SPOGA and Lunch Crunch, taught by California Master Trainer, Saidah, that are sure to leave you feeling renewed and refreshed.

LYH SPOGA is offered on Mondays and Wednesdays at 6 a.m. and 5:45 p.m. and Saturdays at 9 and 10:15 a.m. This fitness class combines 30 minutes of yoga and 30 minutes of indoor cycling (spin) to create a one hour complete body workout. All attendees must pre-register, so ensure you have a spot on the mat today.

Lunch Crunch is offered Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 12 p.m. This mid-day workout will get your juices flowing and help you pump up the rest of your work day. Lunch Crunch combines cardiovascular work, abdominals and weight training for an all-over workout.
