Posted on Monday, June 15th, 2009

12th-midtown-phase-ii-ground1010 Midtown is adding four new “tasty” additions to the high rise, giving Atlanta diners something to buzz about. The high rise has already attracted lots of attention from Atlanta for its beautiful design - now the residential and commercial high rise has everyone talking about the new restaurants opening this year.

The prominent location was the biggest draw for Scott Kilpatrick, co-founder of RA Sushi, one of the new restaurants that recently opened in 1010 Midtown. According to an article in the AJC, Scott didn’t have any regrets about opening a new restaurant despite the recession. It was 1010 Midtown’s  great location that made him feel secure.  The restaurant naturally has a high energy atmosphere boasted by lively music.

New Concert Hall Announced for the Woodruff Arts Center

Posted on Wednesday, March 25th, 2009

image007.jpgThe Woodruff Arts Center currently houses Symphony Hall where all of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra concerts are held. Unfortunately, it has a reputation for poor acoustics which do not do the Symphony or other performers any justice. Thus, a new master plan for the Woodruff Arts Center has been approved and a brand new concert hall is the highlight of the project. Currently, there is not an estimated completion date, but we do know that plans are in the making. To help improve the acoustics of the venue, the new concert hall will have a state-of-the art interior with an in-the-round auditorium and movable ceiling. Not only will the new concert hall provide an adequate venue for the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, but it will also change the overall appearance of the Woodruff Arts Center, a 41-year-old building in Atlanta. The concert hall will rest upon Callaway Plaza and require some demolition of the existing structure. We do not have any renderings of the new building, but surely that is the next step in the master plan.

12th & Midtown Welcomes King Tut

Posted on Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008

Anubis Comes to AtlantaThe first “upscale resident” has now moved to 1010 Midtown, the initial phase of the massive 12th & Midtown mixed-use development underway in the heart of Midtown Atlanta.

The jackal-headed god Anubis was believed to be the guide and protector of the dead in ancient Egypt, and has arrived in Midtown to pave the way for the new exhibition “Tutankhamun: The Golden King and the Great Pharaohs,” which opens November 15 at the Atlanta Civic Center.

This new exhibition spans 2,000 years of history and highlights some of the most significant rulers of ancient Egypt, showcasing the lives and splendor of the Egyptian pharaohs. With more than 50 treasures from King Tut’s tomb and more than 70 priceless artifacts from some of the most powerful pharaohs in Egyptian history on display, visitors will get a sense of how life – and art – evolved under various rulers.

Anubis has served as the protector of King Tut’s treasures in Vienna and London, where he approached the city floating down the River Thames. At five tons and 25 feet, Anubis makes an imposing guide and protector for King Tutankhamun’s treasures and we are thrilled to now welcome him to Midtown Atlanta.
