According to some developers of the Midtown Mile, a new retail concept is in the works that would shift focus away from luxury retail and more toward the needs of average Midtown consumers. However, Selig Enterprises and Daniel Corp. are not on board with these changes. The partners on 12^th and Midtown, a more than $1 billion mixed-use project, say that their development will continue as planned and will offer a unique mix of brands, concepts and price points.

CB2 offers modern housewares and furniture and is currently found in several of the country’s most prominent retail districts (New York’s SoHo, San Francisco’s Union Square, etc.) Launched by Crate & Barrel, this store is a prime example of the new and dynamic stores that 12^th and Midtown attracts.

Originally launched in New York in the heart of the Meatpacking District, STK has quickly become the place to be for upscale clientele. NBC, Ernst & Young and Goldman Sachs have hosted holiday parties and celebrities like Jessica Alba and Kim Kardashian have celebrated birthdays at this distinctive steakhouse.

STK serves steaks in three different sizes that can be dressed in any of eight homemade sauces like Salsa Verde, Red Wine and the signature STK sauce. Patrons can choose from a number of appetizing side dishes including sweet corn pudding and parmesan truffle fries. STK also has an extensive selection of sophisticated cocktails and wines.

People in Las Vegas, Miami, Los Angeles and New York are already familiar with this unique steakhouse, and soon the citizens of Atlanta will finally be able to experience it for themselves.

Upon completion, the steakhouse will be another fine addition to the restaurants of 12^th and Midtown, which include RA Sushi, Piola, Noon|Midtown and Ri Ra Irish Pub. Other highlights include the Loews hotel and the 1010 Midtown Condo.

A few weeks ago, Midtown was buzzing with excitement for the annual charity event, Jeffrey Fashion Cares. In its 18th year, the event drew more than 800 guests to the Midtown Mile for a good cause.

The event, held in the new 12th & Midtown building, featured a raised runway to showcase collections from designers in Jeffrey Kalinsky’s namesake boutiques. Beautiful garments and accessories were modeled down the runway from designers such as Proenza Schoulder, Lanvin and Bottega Veneta. The evening was dedicated to Kalinsky’s father, a retailer who passed away in April. His father helped Kalinsky launch Jeffrey Atlanta in 1990.

But more than bold colors and feminine fabrics, the evening was about charity. Tickets to the event were $500 each, and companies such as Tiffany, Nordstrom and Mercedes-Benz contributed $1,500 to $25,000 each for sponsorships. An auction preceded the runway show, garnering additional donations for local AIDS and breast cancer foundations.

Jeffrey Fashion Cares demonstrates Atlanta’s sense of community. The yearly event has totaled more than $9 million for charities.

We had over 30 participants at the Loews Atlanta Tweet Up, when originally we had said we would only be taking 25 12th & Midtown followers. Many Atlantans were anxiously awaiting the exclusive tour of the luxury new hotel that we were offering, and it was just impossible to keep the cap at 25. Those in attendance were given a detailed tour of the hotel, which included the conference center, restaurant, exhibit hall and guest suites. We couldn’t be happier with the response! All participants chronicled their journey with live updates on Twitter and some even went into more detail after the event by writing a blog post about it. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, and @TheGreatDanaJ was our lucky winner of a two night stay at Loews Atlanta.
