The inspector was given a hotel tour and returned over a weekend for a “secret shop” of the property. Needless to say, Loews Atlanta Hotel passed the inspection and is now a AAA Four Diamond hotel, an honor that has been awarded to less than 4 percent of over 31,000 properties AAA has reviewed. Piedmont Park has long been Atlanta’s favorite in-town park for hosting a variety of events and activities from the Dogwood festival to roller blading, an afternoon picnic or walking the family pet.

The park is a historical site and was the site of many large gatherings including the Piedmont Exposition of 1887 and the Cotton States and International Exposition of 1895. The Cotton States and International Exposition was a World’s Fair. Not only did it run for 100 days, but it featured 6,000 exhibits and attracted 800,000 visitors. The legacy of this huge event lives on in many of the park’s facilities today.

From ball fields, to a small lake (now 11.5 acres and named Clara Meer) to the stone balustrades scattered throughout the park which are the remnants of steps leading to a large building built for the Exposition, glimpses of the 1895 Cotton States and International Exposition are still present.
