midtown-festival-of-the-artsWhen the air begins to crisp in late September, a new arts festival will descend on midtown. The inaugural Midtown Festival of the Arts will be a weekend of Atlanta food and culture.

“Every day, Midtowners roll out the red carpet for visitors to Woodruff Arts Center, High Museum, the Fox Theater and the many wonderful festivals in Piedmont Park,” Leslie Johnson, president of Midtown Festival of the Arts said. “In the past couple of years, developments like 12th and Midtown have added shops, restaurants, visitors and residents to the Midtown Mile, and the new streetscaping ties it all together along Peachtree Street. This festival is organized by Midtowners and all proceeds will fund even more improvements in midtown.”

The festival will highlight visual, performing, culinary and literary artists up and down the Midtown Mile, which stretches from 5th to 10th streets on Peachtree. An artists market will let patrons purchase beautiful and unique pieces from local artists to enjoy at home. Performances will take place on the Main Stage as well as other venues across the festival and showcase dancers, comedians, singers, bands, poets and a wide range of other performances. Fifth Group Restaurants will select restaurants and food vendors to demonstrate their culinary crafts that will please any epicurean. A children’s area at the Margaret Mitchell house will provide performances specifically for children, as well as hands-on crafts and activities.

The festival will feature other exciting activities as well, such as a traditional beer garden, Midtown Mile Road Race, art auction and film presentations.

At this time, Daniel Corporation had only begun construction on their exquisite master-planned development 12th & Midtown. These Midtown condos are within walking distance to most everything Atlanta has to offer. 1010 Midtown is a Walkers’ Paradise

Posted on Thursday, October 29th, 2009

001_enlarge

1010 Midtown recently received a Walk Score of 94 out of a possible 100. And, according to the Walk Score definitions, any community receiving a score between 90 and 100 is considered a “Walkers’ Paradise: Most errands can be accomplished on foot and many people get by without owning a car.”

Being able to reside in Atlanta without having to own a car is one of the greatest luxuries a community can offer. A rise in gas prices will have absolutely no effect on you. Plus, without a monthly car payment and insurance, you will have much more money every month to devote to yourself - whether you want to see a musical, pamper yourself at a local spa, try a new restaurant or shop. And, walking to all of your destinations is a much healthier way of life. Simply by completing your daily tasks, you are getting more physical exercise and increasing your daily steps. All in all, it seems life without a car is superb.

12th & Midtown Welcomes King Tut

Posted on Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008

Anubis Comes to AtlantaThe first “upscale resident” has now moved to 1010 Midtown, the initial phase of the massive 12th & Midtown mixed-use development underway in the heart of Midtown Atlanta.

The jackal-headed god Anubis was believed to be the guide and protector of the dead in ancient Egypt, and has arrived in Midtown to pave the way for the new exhibition “Tutankhamun: The Golden King and the Great Pharaohs,” which opens November 15 at the Atlanta Civic Center.

This new exhibition spans 2,000 years of history and highlights some of the most significant rulers of ancient Egypt, showcasing the lives and splendor of the Egyptian pharaohs. With more than 50 treasures from King Tut’s tomb and more than 70 priceless artifacts from some of the most powerful pharaohs in Egyptian history on display, visitors will get a sense of how life – and art – evolved under various rulers.

Anubis has served as the protector of King Tut’s treasures in Vienna and London, where he approached the city floating down the River Thames. At five tons and 25 feet, Anubis makes an imposing guide and protector for King Tutankhamun’s treasures and we are thrilled to now welcome him to Midtown Atlanta.

Posted on Wednesday, September 17th, 2008

InterContinental Hotels GroupThe Midtown Mile seems to be the most sought-after strip of real estate in Atlanta, as it has attracted the eye of many prestigious establishments, including The W Hotel, Equinox and, now, the InterContinental hotel. It was recently announced in an article from the Atlanta Business Chronicle that the InterContinental Hotels Group will put a new hotel at the intersection of Peachtree Street and 17th Street, bringing a high level of luxury to the area. The InterContinental hotels have a very prestigious reputation, and Atlanta currently has one InterContinental hotel in the Buckhead area, which holds a Five Diamond rating. There are only four hotels in all of Atlanta that have such a high rating, but there is sure to be one more added to the list once the Midtown InterContintal Hotel is complete. The article goes into further detail about the business behind the project, but the bottom line is that the Midtown Mile is quickly becoming the Madison Avenue of Atlanta.
