Midtown Mile Staying the Course

Posted on Thursday, May 19th, 2011

According to some developers of the Midtown Mile, a new retail concept is in the works that would shift focus away from luxury retail and more toward the needs of average Midtown consumers. However, Selig Enterprises and Daniel Corp. are not on board with these changes. The partners on 12th and Midtown, a more than $1 billion mixed-use project, say that their development will continue as planned and will offer a unique mix of brands, concepts and price points.

To that point, many exciting retail announcements have been made at 12th and Midtown recently.

CB2 offers modern housewares and furniture and is currently found in several of the country’s most prominent retail districts (New York’s SoHo, San Francisco’s Union Square, etc.) Launched by Crate & Barrel, this store is a prime example of the new and dynamic stores that 12th and Midtown attracts.

STK is a trendy steakhouse geared toward women that has become extremely popular among upscale clientele in Las Vegas, Miami, Los Angeles and New York. The new Atlanta restaurant is scheduled to open in November 2011, making it another fantastic addition to 12th and Midtown.

Exhale Mind Body Spa is a world-class spa and fitness brand that merges the paths of mind and body well-being. Based in New York, it has quickly become one of the most sought-after brands in the country.

The aforementioned stores are just a sampling of the things to come. With over 500,000 square feet of retail space planned at 12th and Midtown over the next several years, Selig Enterprises and Daniel Corp. remain committed to the original vision of making the Midtown Mile one of the premier street front destinations in the country.

1010 Midtown is a Walkers’ Paradise

Posted on Thursday, October 29th, 2009

001_enlarge

1010 Midtown recently received a Walk Score of 94 out of a possible 100. And, according to the Walk Score definitions, any community receiving a score between 90 and 100 is considered a “Walkers’ Paradise: Most errands can be accomplished on foot and many people get by without owning a car.”

Being able to reside in Atlanta without having to own a car is one of the greatest luxuries a community can offer. A rise in gas prices will have absolutely no effect on you. Plus, without a monthly car payment and insurance, you will have much more money every month to devote to yourself – whether you want to see a musical, pamper yourself at a local spa, try a new restaurant or shop. And, walking to all of your destinations is a much healthier way of life. Simply by completing your daily tasks, you are getting more physical exercise and increasing your daily steps. All in all, it seems life without a car is superb.
