12th & Midtown Welcomes King Tut

Posted on Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008

Anubis Comes to AtlantaThe first “upscale resident” has now moved to 1010 Midtown, the initial phase of the massive 12th & Midtown mixed-use development underway in the heart of Midtown Atlanta.

The jackal-headed god Anubis was believed to be the guide and protector of the dead in ancient Egypt, and has arrived in Midtown to pave the way for the new exhibition “Tutankhamun: The Golden King and the Great Pharaohs,” which opens November 15 at the Atlanta Civic Center.

This new exhibition spans 2,000 years of history and highlights some of the most significant rulers of ancient Egypt, showcasing the lives and splendor of the Egyptian pharaohs. With more than 50 treasures from King Tut’s tomb and more than 70 priceless artifacts from some of the most powerful pharaohs in Egyptian history on display, visitors will get a sense of how life – and art – evolved under various rulers.

Anubis has served as the protector of King Tut’s treasures in Vienna and London, where he approached the city floating down the River Thames. At five tons and 25 feet, Anubis makes an imposing guide and protector for King Tutankhamun’s treasures and we are thrilled to now welcome him to Midtown Atlanta.

The InterContinental Hotel Coming to Midtown

Posted on Wednesday, September 17th, 2008

InterContinental Hotels GroupThe Midtown Mile seems to be the most sought-after strip of real estate in Atlanta, as it has attracted the eye of many prestigious establishments, including The W Hotel, Equinox and, now, the InterContinental hotel. It was recently announced in an article from the Atlanta Business Chronicle that the InterContinental Hotels Group will put a new hotel at the intersection of Peachtree Street and 17th Street, bringing a high level of luxury to the area. The InterContinental hotels have a very prestigious reputation, and Atlanta currently has one InterContinental hotel in the Buckhead area, which holds a Five Diamond rating. There are only four hotels in all of Atlanta that have such a high rating, but there is sure to be one more added to the list once the Midtown InterContintal Hotel is complete. The article goes into further detail about the business behind the project, but the bottom line is that the Midtown Mile is quickly becoming the Madison Avenue of Atlanta.

Posted on Thursday, September 11th, 2008

downtown_atlanta_night.jpgThe standards of society have been evolving over the years, encouraging young professionals to focus on their careers more than their personal lives. This new way of thinking has lead to an increased number of single individuals in the nation. Well, Forbes recently ranked the 40 largest urbanized areas in the U.S. as to which are the best for singles, and “Hotlanta” came out on top. Each city was analyzed in seven different categories: the city’s “cool factor, cost of living alone, culture, job growth, online dating, nightlife and the number of singles. With these as the deciding factors, there is no wonder why Atlanta was ranked #1. We are a city that attracts many corporations and companies, resulting in one of the highest job growth rates in the nation. Because of this, many young professionals start their careers here – increasing the number of singles. We have a sizzling nightlife that caters to everyone’s taste: amazing restaurants, hip bars and clubs, sporting events, concerts, festivals, plays, museums and more.

Midtown Isn’t Just for Singles

Posted on Friday, July 11th, 2008

Beautiful Day in Piedmont ParkAn appeal of Midtown that is sometimes overlooked is the fact that there are so many ways for a family to spend quality time together. In fact, if you were living in Midtown, you would probably be more inclined to have regular “family time” due to all of the great family-friendly activities right in your backyard. It is this district of Atlanta that is home to Piedmont Park, the Woodruff Performing Arts Center, the High Museum of Art, Atlanta’s best restaurants and Atlanta’s best shopping (coming soon).

Kevin Sack of the New York Times recently published an article covering a day with his family in Midtown Atlanta. He begins in the morning with breakfast at the Flying Biscuit and ends the day with a trip to Krispy Kreme. You really should

Intown Living is a Smart Move

Posted on Thursday, June 19th, 2008

003_enlarge.jpgThe advantages to moving into Atlanta are endless. We are a city that is made up of mostly commuters, those that drive into the city everyday from the suburbs for work purposes and drive back out of the city every evening. We also drive into Atlanta from the suburbs for entertainment purposes like tickets to the Fox or Woodruff Arts Center. Not only is this one of the reasons for the horrible traffic problems in Atlanta, but with the gas prices rising out of control, this way of life is becoming unaffordable. So, what’s a solution? Well, there is of course carpooling or purchasing a more fuel efficient car, but both of those still require you to spend approximately two hours of your day fighting Atlanta traffic. The best solution to beat the gas prices is to relocate into the city. By choosing to reside in a live/work/play community, you will virtually eliminate the need for a car.

If 1010 Midtown is your new place of residence, your commute to work could be nothing more than a 5 minute walk, and the Fox Theater and Woodruff Arts Center are also just a stroll away. For added recreation that is free of charge, virtually across the street from 1010 Midtown is Piedmont Park. Here you can enjoy a romantic picnic with a significant other, go for a nice, energizing run, take a bike ride, play a game of football with friends, take your best friend (meaning your dog) for a long walk or anything. Having Piedmont Park in such close proximity allows for endless opportunities for recreation.

Allow me to further emphasize why living in a live, work, play community is a great option: First off, if you are walking to work and entertainment outlets, you are not using gas, depleting your gas budget exponentially. Second, walking is good for you! This is a great way to help increase your daily activity. Thirdly, you’ll have more time in your day to devote to yourself. If you cut your commute, you could be adding two hours to your day that used to be spent sitting in traffic. Two extra hours everyday can give you enough time to run all of your errands, finish a great book, spend time with your family and more. It’s really time to start

Buy a New Home in Atlanta – There’s No Better Place

Posted on Thursday, April 24th, 2008

Out of all of the cities in the nation, CNN Money named Atlanta as the best place to buy a home! So, what are the determining factors? Well, being a place where home prices are likely to rise the most, or to fall the least, in the coming months gives Atlanta a stable real estate market, making it a great place to buy a home. What makes Atlanta a city that is likely to have home prices increase? Well, new housing starts have stopped, drastically reducing the amount of available homes. As supply diminishes, prices will rise.

Unfortunately for homebuyers, this determining factor is bad news. The buyer’s market in new construction is coming to an end. When home prices start to rise again, you will have missed your fantastic opportunity to become a homeowner. What’s the moral of the story? Stop stalling
