The “Midtown Mile” is Atlanta’s “Rodeo Drive”

002_enlarge.jpgAccording to an article in the Atlanta Business Chronicle, the “Midtown Mile”, a 14-block stretch of Peachtree Street beginning at the Fox Theatre on the south end and stretching to Woodruff Arts Center on the north end, is expected to be filled with one million square feet of high-end retailers by 2012. Ideally, the “Midtown Mile” will be the Atlanta equivalent to Los Angeles’ “Rodeo Drive” and New York City’s “Fifth Avenue.” The development of these high-end retailers could potentially generate nearly $477 million in additional annual retail sales and entice tourists to stay an extra night in Atlanta. The plans for this desired stretch of Peachtree Street are huge, and this is going to be the hottest street in town.
