New Concert Hall Announced for the Woodruff Arts Center

The Woodruff Arts Center currently houses Symphony Hall where all of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra concerts are held. Unfortunately, it has a reputation for poor acoustics which do not do the Symphony or other performers any justice. Thus, a new master plan for the Woodruff Arts Center has been approved and a brand new concert hall is the highlight of the project. Currently, there is not an estimated completion date, but we do know that plans are in the making. To help improve the acoustics of the venue, the new concert hall will have a state-of-the art interior with an in-the-round auditorium and movable ceiling. Not only will the new concert hall provide an adequate venue for the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, but it will also change the overall appearance of the Woodruff Arts Center, a 41-year-old building in Atlanta. The concert hall will rest upon Callaway Plaza and require some demolition of the existing structure. We do not have any renderings of the new building, but surely that is the next step in the master plan.
